This program is designed to provide you with a complete overview of teaching. In addition to the knowledge you will gain here, it takes time and experience to become a better teacher. Our hope is that you can use the time in between the seminars to work on your teaching and implement what you have learned here.

In addition to the planned content, you can also expect the following every weekend:

Schedule (tentative):

Friday 20:00 - 23:00

Saturday: 11:00 - 14:00 / 15:00 - 18:00

Sunday:  10:00 - 13:00 / 14:00 - 16:00

Social Dance: Saturday 21:30 - Midnight

Student-Teaching:

Saturday 20:30 - 21:30.

Each weekend 1-2 participants can teach a taster to the other participants and dancers of the Freiburg Lindy Scene and receive feedback on their teaching. Precedence will be given to those participants enrolling for all 6 months.

(Virtual) Guest Speakers:

What do some of the leading teachers in our scene have to say about particular teaching topics or teaching in general? Through recorded interviews you will be presented each weekend with a different guest speaker who will share their thoughts on one of the weekend topics as well as some general aspects of teaching. We will then use these interviews as a basis for discussion or further exercises on the topic at hand.

Dance Training:

Each weekend Jenn will teach a 60-90 minute class on a specific topic. These topics will not only expand/advance your dancing knowledge and improve your dance abilities but they will also further your growing teaching knowledge by giving you some good ideas on how to present material and structure your class. Disclaimer: these classes have nothing to do with promoting a certain way of dancing - you are free to choose to dance however you want! Instead these classes are an opportunity to either learn something new, or better understand something you already know and in the process get you to think about what you do when you dance… and then find clear and concise ways of communicating this to your students.
